This diminutive yam mask is a superb first generation example that is remarkably complete for its age. The weave is extremely tight and the pigments are colorful and still brilliant after all this time. There is a patina over the mask that is not usually found on yam masks, this is due to its age, and from exposure to smoke in the men's house for decades. It is very difficult to find an example of this size, this quality and age.
