These small metal figures are found throughout Indonesia. This female figure is a beautiful example. The distinctive headdress in a topknot formation tapers down the head of the figure. The face is naturalistic and there are hints of subtle decoration above her genitalia. Most likely representing a spirit, these figures were protective agents against various threats.
