This Leti Island figure exemplifies the carver’s ability to convey power and beauty at once. The muscular body of this figure is juxtaposed by a sensitively carved face that exudes great serenity. The elaborate earrings suggest this figure represents royalty. The patina is deep and encrusted from generations of use and storage. There is erosion to one side of the figure; but this does not affect the overall integrity of the sculpture.
