Ritual Spoon

Ifugao, Phillipines
19th Century
Previous Collection: New England Library Collection

This fine figural spoon from the Ifugao people is a superb example; carved from hard wood in classic Bulul style. The patina has a beautiful golden brown color and feels like silk from years of handling. Being that these are figural spoons, the ‘art’ is usually predominantly in the figure/handle of the spoon. In this case; this fine example has a beautifully carved deep bowl that is very elegant. In excellent condition.

This spoon is 6 inches tall.
