Warrior’s Armlet Tankil

Northern Luzon, Philippines
19th Century
Previous Collection: Thomas Jaffe, New York City

Headhunter’s armlets such as these are very rare; most of them on the market today are fabrications. This fine example is completely original, from the Boar’s tusks to the tufts of animal hair; this example epitomizes the warrior spirit. The figure attached is very well carved in the classic hunkered position. The patina is deep and consistent with old examples. In excellent condition.
This object stands 9 inches height.
