This mystifying figure from the Kivu region of the Eastern Congo is a rare example. Showing influence from powerful sculptural traditions of the Boyo , Sikasingo and Binja; while exhibiting the sensitive strength of the Lega in its facial features. The arm posture is rare and very reminiscent of Boyo-Sikasingo sculpture. Carved from hardwood with a deep blackened patina.

This figure stands 8.5 inches in height.
