Dance Mask

Ogoni, Nigeria
Early 20th Century

This is a classic example of an early Ogoni mask. With its finely braided coiffure and dramatic face paint this example stands out among many on the market today. The jaw on this mask is articulated; when danced; the mouth opens and shuts sporadically; creating a very animated and lively experience for the viewer. The pigments are all original and the back of the mask shows very good age.

This mask stands 8 inches in height.
