Brass Amulet

Kotoko, Chad
19th Century or earlier
Previous Collection: Michael Oliver, NYC

Cast in the form of an equestrian figure with an abstract overall conception, this small pendant was worn for generations. The wear speaks to this; the features are virtually obliterated from use and the attachment hole is almost totally worn through. One can still see the large head of the horse with detailed trappings and the small projecting rider. To hold the piece in your hands is really the only way to experience its age and wear.

This pendant stands 2” tall and 2” wide.
