Songye, Zaire, 19th century
Previous collections: Irwin Hersey, NYC
Jean and Noble Endicott, NYC
This figure is a wonderful example of cubistic sculpture. It has a very
old and deep brown patina. Snakeskin is wrapped around the base of the
sculpture. Old metal tacks are inserted on the top of the head as well
as the base of the figure.
It stands 9.5 inches tall on the custom base.
